Jay, Pepper and I took the kids on a day trip... here are some pictures of our adventures. Here the kids are climbing up the 272 steps to see the springs.

Four-Wheeling

The kids all love four wheeling. I do not really get it myself. It is dirty and muddy and loud. I have gone a couple times with Jay but am always either stressed that a tree will jump out in front of me or I will get us lost when I drive or am just hanging on for dear life when I ride while she drives. So when they all asked to take turns riding while we were on our trip to Jay’s, I said sure but was happy the kids were old enough that I didn’t have to go with them!

I would expect Lexi to be the best. She knows the trails and has driven this particular 4 wheeler often enough to feel comfortable on it. Maybe… she is just a little too comfortable on it because she and Pete came rounding the corner and Lexi ran right into the flat bed trailer! She knocked it right off its block. She and Pete fixed the trailer as Jay and I were walking over to assess the damage. No one was hurt and nothing was damaged. Jay mentioned to Lexi that she might want to start wearing her glasses while driving if she couldn’t see something as large as a trailer! I was glad she missed my new car which was parked right next to that trailer!! J

Five Horse Dinner

Jay and Lexi visited for the weekend. Jay and I were discussing an upcoming wedding we were both going to.

Me: Sounds like its going to be a fancy wedding.

Jay: Yes, we're going to be served a five course meal at the reception.

Lexi (disgustedly, after overhearing what her Mom said): Five horses?!! They are serving HORSES?!?

Youth Hunt

This weekend was youth hunt. That means that only youth age 10-18 can have a firearm and go deer hunting. Pete got his first deer. He was in a tree stand with a friend from church. The two had decided to give it 5 more minutes because football was starting soon.... and Pete saw 3 deer coming into sight on the far left.

He got one. An excellent shot. Today we spent a few hours learning to process it (next time I think I will pay to have that job done!) and we now have 30+ pounds of venison in the freezer. Pete can't wait to head out again. Lexi, Jay's daughter says she's going to get one too.... Pete says bring it on! We definitely have a hunter in the family! :)

Funny Bunny

Saw this picture and thought it was funny. Jay and her daughter Lexi are visiting for the weekend. Lexi told me a cute joke.... "What do scaredy-cats eat for lunch?" answer.....chicken! I love 5th grade humor! :)

Sometimes the things my students say during “speech” just tickles me. Here are a couple of the latest. While working on answering “Where” questions…. “You just checked out a book to take home. Where are you?” child: the library “You just bought stamps. Where are you?” child: the post office “You just got off an airplane. Where are you?” child: DISNEY WORLD!! (Its been a cold, snowy winter….. of course that is where we’d all be if we took a plane somewhere!!) A 6 year old boy as he comes into the room realizing the school-wide reading night was the night before….. “I missed family read night last night? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??”

Lexi's movie review

Jay's daughter Lexi has been down for the weekend. We went and saw the new movie "The Princess and the Frog" today and Lexi wanted to write a review of the movie. It is her first time ever blogging-- so at the age of 9... in the 4th grade, I think she did an excellent job!! :)

I liked the princess and the frog because there were a lot of action and adventure. It was really funny; there were many twist and turns. Like many other movies there were villains, heroes and awesome characters all the characters had different personalities. Some of the ideals are to never give up, or to trick others that never did any thing. I liked it so much there nothing I don’t like about it. there sad parts, funny and sweet parts. You should see this movie!! Lexi.

Lexi

I want to tell a little about Lexy... Jay's daughter. I have known her since before she was born. She is now in the third grade and is always fun to have visit our house. She almost always comes to visit with her Mom and she loves it when we go to Olive Garden, especially when her big brother does not come to visit too. I think mainly because then she can go home and tease her brother about getting to go. But since I really like Olive Garden too.... I don't mind. :)

Lexy loves to use her Mom's phone and she tries to trick me all the time thinking that messages from her are really from her Mom. When I text back "Hi Lexy" she can't figure out how I know it is her! I will never tell!! Heehee!!

The biggest problem with Lexy's visit is that Dill has had a crush on her forever and unfortunately I think Lexy likes Pete... so it is sort of a romantic triangle between my boys and Lexy. Luckily, they are all good enough friends that they get over those issues quickly and generally all play well together.

I always look forward to Lexy and Jay coming to visit us... and very soon we will start our camping trips together again this year.... I can't wait!!

Love ya, Lexy!! <3
